A top price for Jacques Villon - as previously expected
The work L'Acrobate by Jacques Villon was sold in the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2016. The price achieved of USD 1,025,000.00 (€ 920,520.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, L'Acrobate is the most expensive artwork by Jacques Villon that we have observed at auctions so far.
