Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peasants in a tavern by Jacques-Philippe Caresme was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,716.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Philippe Caresme achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Bacchanal in June 2007 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 44,378.70).
