Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Ellen Millicent Cobden (Mrs Walter Sickert) by Jacques-Émile Blanche was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,427.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Émile Blanche achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vaslav Nijinsky In 'Danse Siamoise' in October last year with an auction result of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,717,938.39).
