Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lute Player Accompanying An Old Man Holding A Musical Score by Jacques des Rousseaux was sold in the Master Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 275,000.00 (€ 225,206.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jacques des Rousseaux have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2011 the work Selbstbildnis in Phantasietracht. 1635. was auctioned for CHF 526,000.00 (€ 409,521.22).
