Despite a disappointment, a good price for Jacob Thompson
When the work The Course Of True Love Never Did Run Smooth by Jacob Thompson was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,647.47). Despite this disappointing result, The Course Of True Love Never Did Run Smooth is the most expensive artwork by Jacob Thompson that we have observed at auction so far.
