Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Czech Prague At Dusk by Jakub Schikaneder was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2009, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 205,250.00 (€ 240,853.99). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jakub Schikaneder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Winter in Prague, which sold at auction in December 2021 for GBP 438,500.00 (€ 523,038.52).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Czech Prague At Dusk von Jakub Schikaneder im Juni 2009 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 205.250,00 (€ 240.853,99) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Jakub Schikaneder mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Winter in Prague beobachtet, die im Dezember 2021 für GBP 438.500,00 (€ 523.038,52) versteigert wurde.
