This artwork by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2005. In the Old Master Pictures auction, the work Herdsmen with cattle and sheep in a wooded river landscape sold for GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,523.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Landscape With Cavaliers In The Foreground, A Church Beyond, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 66,500.00 (€ 90,362.22).
