This artwork by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2015. In the Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II auction, the work A Wooded Landscape With A Waterfall sold for USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,821.97) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Landscape With Cavaliers In The Foreground, A Church Beyond in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 66,500.00 (€ 90,362.22).
