Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work A Wooded Landscape With Shepherds And Their Flock Of Cattle And Sheep by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael for USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,741.52). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Landscape With Cavaliers In The Foreground, A Church Beyond, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 66,500.00 (€ 90,362.22).
