In January 2001 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings, which included the work A parrot, a parakeet, a melon, bunches of grapes, peaches, and other fruit, with a lizard, a beetle and other insects, on a rocky ledge by Jacob Marrel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 58,750.00 (€ 63,117.75), 47% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jacob Marrel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Blumenstilleben in einer Terracotta-Vase auf einem Sockel. 1640. in September 2010 with an auction result of CHF 491,500.00 (€ 368,417.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 47 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2001 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A parrot, a parakeet, a melon, bunches of grapes, peaches, and other fruit, with a lizard, a beetle and other insects, on a rocky ledge von Jacob Marrel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 58.750,00 (€ 63.117,75) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Marrel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Blumenstilleben in einer Terracotta-Vase auf einem Sockel. 1640. im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 491.500,00 (€ 368.417,21).
