In January 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work An Extensive Hilly Landscape With Figures Carrying Baskets, A Carriage On A Road by Jacob Cats. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,095.86), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacob Cats; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Month Of December: A Winter Landscape With Skaters And Sledges On A Frozen River By A Village, Possibly The Village Of Nieuwland, Near Leerdam sold at auction in January 2016 with the realized price of USD 26,250.00 (€ 24,233.75).
