This artwork by Jacob Cats achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July last year. In the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction, the work View of Lage Vuursche, near Hilversum sold for GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,560.63) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacob Cats; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Month Of December: A Winter Landscape With Skaters And Sledges On A Frozen River By A Village, Possibly The Village Of Nieuwland, Near Leerdam sold at auction in January 2016 with the realized price of USD 26,250.00 (€ 24,233.75).
