Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by J. Wilkins could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House auction, the work Ships of the fleet bidding farewell to a Royal visitor in Weymouth Bay (illustrated); and Royal Navy frigates and a cutter in a stiff breeze off the South Foreland changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 597.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200. Admittedly, works by J. Wilkins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Scene) in May last year with an auction result of GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,699.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von J. Wilkins konnte im November 2010 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House wechselte die Arbeit Ships of the fleet bidding farewell to a Royal visitor in Weymouth Bay (illustrated); and Royal Navy frigates and a cutter in a stiff breeze off the South Foreland für GBP 500,00 (€ 597,50) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von J. Wilkins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Scene) im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.295,00 (€ 2.699,85).
