Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Barges at a Continental quay by J. Watson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 650.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by J. Watson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A hound in a kennel, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 881.25 (€ 1,402.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Barges at a Continental quay von J. Watson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 411,25 (€ 650,52) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von J. Watson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A hound in a kennel beobachtet, die im November 2001 für GBP 881,25 (€ 1.402,35) versteigert wurde.
