Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Collier could be acquired at Christies in London in October 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Pictures auction, the work A shepherd and his flock on a hillside with cottages in the distance changed hands for GBP 180.00 (€ 265.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Collier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sleeping Beauty in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 547,642.53).
