The work The courtesan Shioginu of the Tsutaya house (Tsutaya uchi Shioginu) by Isoda Koryusai was sold in the Masters of the Woodblock: Important Japanese Prints auction at Sothebys in London in July last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,340.00 (€ 13,541.97), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Isoda Koryusai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Courtesan promenading with attendants beneath cherry blossoms, c. 1770s, which sold at auction in March 2009 for USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,278.41).

Die Arbeit The courtesan Shioginu of the Tsutaya house (Tsutaya uchi Shioginu) von Isoda Koryusai wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Masters of the Woodblock: Important Japanese Prints bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.340,00 (€ 13.541,97) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Isoda Koryusai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Courtesan promenading with attendants beneath cherry blossoms, c. 1770s beobachtet, die im März 2009 für USD 37.500,00 (€ 28.278,41) versteigert wurde.
