Sold at the lower estimate price
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Russian Art, which included the work Portrait of Vera Berenshtam, née Pypina (1864-1930) by Ilya Repin. The result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,004.89) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ilya Repin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Parisian Café in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 4,521,250.00 (€ 5,001,922.73).
