The work The Solar Eclipse of 1887, Mendeleev in his Hot-Air Balloon by Ilya Repin was sold in the Russian Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in November 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 176,400.00 (€ 207,110.20), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ilya Repin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Parisian Café in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 4,521,250.00 (€ 5,001,922.73).

Die Arbeit The Solar Eclipse of 1887, Mendeleev in his Hot-Air Balloon von Ilya Repin wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion Russian Pictures bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 176.400,00 (€ 207.110,20) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ilya Repin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Parisian Café im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.521.250,00 (€ 5.001.922,73).
