Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2004 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work The Traveller by Ignacio de León y Escosura. The price achieved of AUD 2,868.00 (€ 1,664.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ignacio de León y Escosura achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A card party in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 12,547.50 (€ 18,674.44).

Im August 2004 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Traveller von Ignacio de León y Escosura zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 2.868,00 (€ 1.664,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ignacio de León y Escosura erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A card party im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.547,50 (€ 18.674,44).
