Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Moons and Upside Down Mountain by Hussein Shariffe was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,560.00 (€ 8,881.05) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hussein Shariffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Songlines: For Bruce Chatwin in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 40,597.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Moons and Upside Down Mountain von Hussein Shariffe wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.560,00 (€ 8.881,05) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hussein Shariffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Songlines: For Bruce Chatwin im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 40.597,49).
