The work Big Red by Hussein Shariffe was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. It achieved a price of GBP 22,680.00 (€ 26,643.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hussein Shariffe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Songlines: For Bruce Chatwin sold at auction in October 2019 with the realized price of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 40,597.49).
