Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Preliminary sketch for the Magic Flute, Act III by Hugh Casson was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2002. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 576.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Admittedly, works by Hugh Casson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An original architectural plan for the Festival of Britain, 1951 in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,525.16).
