This artwork by Hubert Coop achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2002. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Sailing vessels on the Thames at dusk sold for GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,824.77) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hubert Coop; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Southwold harbour, Suffolk sold at auction in January 2003 with the realized price of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,239.36).
