The work Seven-character Poem in Running Script by Huang Xing was worth HKD 275,000.00 (€ 33,510.59) to a buyer in November 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Huang Xing; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu sold at auction in October 2011 with the realized price of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 43,866.06).
