The work Poem In Xingshu by Hu Shi was worth HKD 750,000.00 (€ 82,546.36) to a buyer in October 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 240,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hu Shi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Poem In Running Script sold at auction in September 2014 with the realized price of USD 203,000.00 (€ 160,753.88).
