In January 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed, which included the work John Hancock, #1,748, 1980 by Howard Finster. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,034.76), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Howard Finster have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Traveling Show: Presentation Piece Detailing the Life of Howard Finster, 1988 in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,196.26).

Im Januar 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed durch, in der auch die Arbeit John Hancock, #1,748, 1980 von Howard Finster zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.034,76) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Howard Finster auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Traveling Show: Presentation Piece Detailing the Life of Howard Finster, 1988 im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.196,26).
