In April 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings, Part II, which included the work A River Landscape With Ruins And Travelers by Horatius de Hooch. The »bidding war« ended at USD 24,000.00 (€ 19,011.41), 20% above the upper estimate. With this result, A River Landscape With Ruins And Travelers is even the most expensive work of art by Horatius de Hooch that we have observed at auctions so far.
