A pair of six-fold screens, ink and colour on paper; each depicting the Red Cliff and Yangtze River, scenes from the Red Cliff Rhapsody a poem by the famous Chinese poet Su Shi (1037-1101), each screen with calligraphic inscriptions taken from the poem, both signed Hi sho nen, sealed Yama shizukanishite taiko ni nitari and Hi nagakushite shonen no gotoshi, dated autumn 1865, mounted with gold leaf boarder

The work Red Cliff by Hineno Taizan was sold in the Asobi: Ingenious Creativity, Japanese Works of Art from Antiquity to Contemporary auction at Christies in London in October 2014. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,778.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Other works by Hineno Taizan have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2020 the work Red Bamboo was auctioned for USD 14,025.00 (€ 11,467.70).
