Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Still Life Of Peaches, A Fig, A Watermelon, Bunches Of Grapes And A Rose Arranged On And Around A Silver Dish On A Ledge by Herman Verelst was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 62,500.00 (€ 69,381.87). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Herman Verelst; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Roses, a tulip, a poppy and other flowers in a vase and a half-peeled orange in a roemer, on a stone ledge sold at auction in December 2012 with the realized price of GBP 85,250.00 (€ 105,136.93).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Still Life Of Peaches, A Fig, A Watermelon, Bunches Of Grapes And A Rose Arranged On And Around A Silver Dish On A Ledge von Herman Verelst im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 62.500,00 (€ 69.381,87) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Herman Verelst; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Roses, a tulip, a poppy and other flowers in a vase and a half-peeled orange in a roemer, on a stone ledge im Dezember 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 85.250,00 (€ 105.136,93).
