Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work A spray of chrysanthemums, a fritillary, pink hollyhock, morning glory and a red dahlia in an urn, with various shells and a lizard in the foreground by Herman Henstenburgh. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,759.22), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Herman Henstenburgh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A King Bird Of Paradise (Cicinnurius Regius) And A Spiderhunter (Arachnothera) in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 74,500.00 (€ 54,320.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A spray of chrysanthemums, a fritillary, pink hollyhock, morning glory and a red dahlia in an urn, with various shells and a lizard in the foreground von Herman Henstenburgh zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.759,22) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Herman Henstenburgh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A King Bird Of Paradise (Cicinnurius Regius) And A Spiderhunter (Arachnothera) im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 74.500,00 (€ 54.320,09).
