Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishing trawlers in the harbour at Whitby by Herbert Menzies Marshall was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations auction at Christies in London in July 2007. The price achieved of GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,316.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Admittedly, works by Herbert Menzies Marshall have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Houses of Parliament, from across the Thames in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 6,572.50 (€ 10,292.62).
