Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The U.S.S. Chesapeake and H.M.S. Shannon locked in a death grip, 1 June 1813 by Henry Scott was sold in the British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,234.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Scott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The jute clipper Star of Greece at sea in the gathering dusk, which sold at auction in February 2006 for USD 36,000.00 (€ 30,188.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The U.S.S. Chesapeake and H.M.S.
