Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work British melody by Henry Meynell Rheam was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,299.40). Admittedly, works by Henry Meynell Rheam have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Once Upon A Time (Snow White) in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 42,595.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit British melody von Henry Meynell Rheam im Februar 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.299,40) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Meynell Rheam auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Once Upon A Time (Snow White) im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.250,00 (€ 42.595,49).
