Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Humphries Boatbuilder by Henry Martin Pope was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in London in October 2002. The price achieved of GBP 399.50 (€ 631.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Martin Pope - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A traveller before a ruined castle, which sold at auction in January 2007 for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,172.63).
