Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work The 11th Prince Albert's Own Hussars, circa 1845 by Henry Martens. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,840.07) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Martens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The cavalry regiments: The 2nd Dragoon Guards (The Royal Scots Greys) and the 19th Lancers at a mounted review, circa 1850, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,883.75).
