In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work Swaffham, Norfolk by Harry John Johnstone. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 956.00 (€ 1,431.04), 59% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Harry John Johnstone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gathering clams in September 2001 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,434.18).

Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Swaffham, Norfolk von Harry John Johnstone zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 956,00 (€ 1.431,04) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Harry John Johnstone auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gathering clams im September 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.434,18).
