Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Forest Interior 39 3/4 x 28 3/4 in. framed 48 x 37 in. by Henry Chapman Ford was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,275.00 (€ 1,191.81). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Chapman Ford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Etchings of the Franciscan Missions of California, New York, Studio Press, 1883 in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 19,975.00 (€ 23,538.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Forest Interior 39 3/4 x 28 3/4 in. framed 48 x 37 in. von Henry Chapman Ford im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.275,00 (€ 1.191,81) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henry Chapman Ford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Etchings of the Franciscan Missions of California, New York, Studio Press, 1883 im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.975,00 (€ 23.538,77).
