This artwork by Henry Bone achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2005. In the Property from the Estate of Mrs. Charles W. Engelhard auction, the work Portrait of Thomas Howard, Second Earl of Arundel sold for USD 6,600.00 (€ 5,089.06) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Bone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33)
