Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Betrayal of Christ: Christ, in red and blue robes, embraced by Judas, in green and gold robes, being led away by soldiers in armour, one carrying a torch by Henry Bone was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,336.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Bone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henry Bone erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an im November 2000 mit ein
