Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Het Zegenpralent Kenenmerlant, vertoont in 100 Heerelyke gezichten, van deszelfs voornaemste Lustplaetzen...Hogergeest...: Three Plates by Henrick de Leth was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 993.18). Admittedly, works by Henrick de Leth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A view of Kestert, looking upstream; A view of Bad Honningen from the West Bank of the Rhine, Hammersteinerwerth beyond; A view of Wellmich and Burg Wellmich from the Rhine, looking upstream; A view of Wellmich and Burg Wellmich from the West Bank of in November 2003 with an auction result of EUR 4,780.00.

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henrick de Leth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A view of Kestert, looking upstream; A view of Bad Honningen from the West Bank of the Rhine, Hammersteinerwerth beyond; A view of Wellmich and Burg Wellmich from the Rhine, looking upstream; A view of Wellmich and Burg Wellmich from the West Bank of im November 2003 mit einem Auktio
