Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Landschap Zandvoort: a view of Zandvoort by Henri Le Fauconnier was worth EUR 16,250.00 to a buyer in September 2009. This price was achieved in the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures at Christies in Amsterdam and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 5,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henri Le Fauconnier - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Village au bord d'un lac, which sold at auction in November 2020 for USD 47,812.50 (€ 40,017.16).
