Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French study For 'Une Séance Du Jury De Peinture' by Henri Gervex was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 106,250.00 (€ 118,371.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Gervex achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French rolla in May 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,385,000.00 (€ 1,807,278.85).

Die Arbeit French study For 'Une Séance Du Jury De Peinture' von Henri Gervex wurde im Dezember 2018 in der Auktion 19th Century European Paintings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 106.250,00 (€ 118.371,92) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Gervex erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit French rolla im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.385.000,00 (€ 1.807.278,85).
