Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism), which included the work Hooge zee by Hendrik Willem Mesdag. The price achieved of EUR 5,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrik Willem Mesdag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Marée Bas in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 895,000.00 (€ 410,788.26).
