In February 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Dutch The North Sea by Hendrik Willem Mesdag. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,152.47) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrik Willem Mesdag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Marée Bas in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 895,000.00 (€ 410,788.26).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch The North Sea von Hendrik Willem Mesdag zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.152,47) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Willem Mesdag erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Marée Bas im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 895.000,00 (€ 410.788,26).
