This artwork by Harold Riley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2013. In the Modern British& Irish Art auction, the work The King'S Cinema, Salford sold for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,028.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Harold Riley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Ritz, Salford, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 34,429.49).
