Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Barque Ocean Nymph running down the Channel by Harold Percival was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 100.00 – 200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 60.00 (€ 87.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Harold Percival achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Emigrant Ships Invercargill Of Glasgow; And Samuel Plimsoll Of Aberdeen in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,308.86).
