Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The three-master Hermione under full sail in the Channel by Harold Percival was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 352.50 (€ 506.02). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Harold Percival - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Emigrant Ships Invercargill Of Glasgow; And Samuel Plimsoll Of Aberdeen, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 822.50 (€ 1,308.86).
