This artwork by Harold Gilman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2012. In the Modern British Art Evening Sale auction, the work Portrait of a Negro Gardener sold for GBP 127,250.00 (€ 156,934.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Harold Gilman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Interior (Mrs Mounter), which sold at auction in November 2016 for GBP 485,000.00 (€ 572,252.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Harold Gilman erzielte im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a Negro Gardener für GBP 127.250,00 (€ 156.934,59) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Harold Gilman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Interior (Mrs Mounter) beobachtet, die im November 2016 für GBP 485.000,00 (€ 572.252,32) versteigert wurde.
