Oblong quarto (198 x 255mm). 41 photographs, 6 of these black and white. Original grey cloth, small colour photograph mounted on the front board, original photo-illustrated dust-jacket. [And:] -- Chromogenic print (305 x 405mm), titled ('Hobrede'), signed ('Hans Aarsman 1988') and annotated ('print June 2001'), all in black ink on the verso.
FIRST EDITION, SIGNED, AND WITH A PRINT FROM THE SERIES: the collapsed glass house in Hobrede. A fine 'homage to the seventeenth century Dutch landscape painters... Aarsman replaces the bucolic optimism of the paintings with a sardonic pessimism, keeping the irony tuned up and any other signs of self-expression toned down'. The Photobook, vol. II, p.69. (2)

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hollandse Taferelen -- Dutch Tableaux. Amsterdam: Fragment, 1989. by Hans Aarsman was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010. The price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,025.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hans Aarsman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Waterhuizen, from the series 'Hollandse Taferelen', which sold at auction in June 2008 for EUR 3,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Hollandse Taferelen -- Dutch Tableaux. Amsterdam: Fragment, 1989. von Hans Aarsman kam im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 875,00 (€ 1.025,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Hans Aarsman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Waterhuizen, from the series 'Hollandse Taferelen' beobachtet, die im Juni 2008 für EUR 3.500,00 versteigert wurde.
