Sealed Hakuin, Ekaku and Kokanki, dated and inscribed by the artist Meiwa daiyon hinoto-i (1767) bussei dobi sarasojuka hachijusansai rodo izukunzo kore o akasu (why an eighty-three-year old man under a bodhi tree could attain enlightement on the same day of the year that Buddha attained enlightement)

A top price for Hakuin Ekaku
In March 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese Art Including Property of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which included the work Namu Nikko Tosho Daishinkun (I Call On The Lord of Nikko Toshogu Shrine) by Hakuin Ekaku. The »bidding war« ended at USD 120,000.00 (€ 98,854.93), 33% above the upper estimate. With this result, Namu Nikko Tosho Daishinkun (I Call On The Lord of Nikko Toshogu Shrine) is even the most expensive work of art by Hakuin Ekaku that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis für Hakuin Ekaku
Im März 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese Art Including Property of The Metropolitan Museum of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Namu Nikko Tosho Daishinkun (I Call On The Lord of Nikko Toshogu Shrine) von Hakuin Ekaku zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 120.000,00 (€ 98.854,93) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Mit diesem Ergebnis ist Namu Nikko Tosho Daishinkun (I Call On The Lord of Nikko Toshogu Shrine) sogar das teuerste Kunstwerk von Hakuin Ekaku, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
